Adding own calligraphic words makes the drawing more special.

                                                   Crane - artwork - Yasue

鶴を象ったお菓子と、笑顔まんじゅう。

新年にふさわしい、めでたいお菓子です。

芋を使った生地で、こしあんを包んでいます。
 These confections represent the crane and smiling face.
They are made of yum, rice-powder and bean paste.
An auspicious confection,
 appropriate for celebrating the New Year.

Ise-Katagami stencil

Autumn artwork

                          Ise-katagami Stencil, one of the Japanese fine handcraft arts,
                          is originally used for dyeing patterns into Kimono textiles. It is made
                          of Japanese paper with tanning persimmon juice and its carving work
                          requires a skillful technique from the past and tremendous amount of
                          time. Added the word of autumn to the drawing.

2012秋 Autumn Art & Tea Workshop



Traditional tea ceremony, sweets make and we drew our own autumn with a guide of professionals....Hope everyone enjoyed the peaceful afternoon on Sunday.

To learn how to use brush, mix colours,  position your drawing expands more imagination.




Some used water colours, some with stencils. Soft Japanese calligraphy adds an essence to the drawing.




Peaceful and relaxed time for everyone.




Sometime, children are genius for creation.



Loved this part, sweets making! Learned the basics.



A little nervous in a special tea room, being served a green tea later.




Welcomed all to a nice tea room with a view of beautiful garden.




Some drawing samples helped everyone to start and expand imagination on their own.



Autumn Workshop details

The best season in Kyoto has arrived!
On Sunday, October 21st starting from 1pm,
an autumn Art and Tea workshop event is held.

The venue is called Chion sha  http://www.chionsha.com/,
a nice old Machiya house with a stunning view near subway Oike station.

Japanese soft calligraphy, water painting, sweets&tea ceremony.
